Therapy Dogs
We have evolved our program over the years to focus on our true passion which is Therapy Dog work. We certified all of our Alpine Sky Goldens to be Therapy Dogs, and now spend as much time as possible in the community sharing our gentle tempered dogs with others. It warms our hearts to see them enrich lives of anyone they interact with.
Our English Cream Golden Retrievers are specifically selected for dispositions that will make them excellent therapy dogs that can share their love and comfort with our community, and with their families.
We volunteer for Canines for Service, an excellent non-profit organization based in NC that allow us to visit retirement homes, hospitals, businesses and schools in the area.
We most enjoy visiting high schools and college campuses especially with so many mental health challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and other stress related factors.
We hand raise each puppy with future Therapy work in mind starting with socialization and other helpful practices to get them prepared at a young age. Our Therapy Dog trainer performs the Volhard Aptitude temperament test @ 7 weeks old to help gauge the personality of each pup. Many of our puppy families certify their dogs to be Therapy Dogs too which warms our hearts to see our dogs out in the community making lives better.
FYI: Therapy Dogs are not Service Dogs; they are dogs trained to provide affection, comfort and love to people in hospitals, retirement homes, nursing homes, schools, hospices, and disaster areas. They are also especially suited to give love to their families especially families with children 🐶
