At Alpine Sky Goldens our goal is to breed exceptional quality Golden Retrievers. We are a hobby breeder that leverages bloodlines from globally respected breeders with a preference for the Canadian/European-style Golden Retrievers (sometimes called English Creams).
Our selection process focuses on temperament suitable for therapy dog work which is our passion, as well as lifetime family members/companions. All of our adult dogs are certified Therapy Dogs with Canines for Service. We also ensure our dogs have outstanding pedigrees and all the important genetic health clearances to reduce the chances of passing on medical conditions to our pups.
In addition to ensuring both parents have genetic health clearances, we carefully match to ensure the following desired characteristics: loving, gentle, and sweet temperaments; big-boned, blocky heads, complemented with jet black pigment on their nose and paw pads; and striking creamy coats (we lean towards the easy keep style).
We are passionate about our dogs and they are all considered part of our family from puppies to adults. Our puppies are whelped and hand-raised in our home where they are nurtured with special care and lots of love from newborns to 7-8 weeks old. We leverage our puppy helpers to socialize them at the appropriate time so they are better adapted when it's time to go home to their families, and hopefully one day share their love with the community. As part of this process we introduce them to new experiences, sounds, a crate in their sleeping and play area, and many different interactive toys. Once weaned we take them outside 3 x per day so they have the concept of potty outside by the time they go to their forever homes.
Our certified therapy dog and puppy trainers performs Volhard temperament testing customized for therapy work at 7 weeks old. Our puppies will pass due to our careful matching of parents, so the testing results are more a tool for our families to leverage in training once they take their new family member home.
